Three Weeks

Andrew is 3 weeks old today. He is strong and has a healthy appetite. He is also very patient with his sister. There has been a few times when she has shared her toys with him in a not so gentle way. He is very good at going with the flow, and hopefully someday soon he will be able to share those toys with Elizabeth.

Daddy painted Andrew's room today. He is very insistent that each of our children get treated equally. I think we are going to decorate it with cars. Jeremy has a picture of 3 VW bugs to hang up, and we will get a city map rug.

Side Sleeper

Andrew is a side sleeper. He will sleep on his back, but only if you put him down when he is out cold. I love how he puts his arms up by his face while he sleeps. He looks so peaceful.

Andrew is two weeks old now. He is such a joy to have in our family.

Alert

Andrew is a very alert boy. If he hears his sister he will turn to where the noise is coming from. He continues to sleep well, and is very easy going while awake...Even when his sister pokes him in the eye, or gives him kisses on his feet repeatedly.

We think he looks more and more like Grandma Johnson and the Rossmillers' every day. He even has the Rossmiller curly hair like Uncle Eric.

First Day at Church

We took Andrew to church for the first time today. Jeremy and I hadn't been to church in over a month. So, even though Andrew is only a week old, we decided it was time. He did a great job throughout the entire meeting, sleeping the whole time in his car seat. His sister also did a good job, staying entertained until the last 20 minutes.

Four Generations

Mommy felt very lucky to have Grandma Johnson and Great Grandma Rossmiller visit. It made it a very special Mother's Day.

First Day Home

Andrew only spent about 25 hours in the hospital. We are very grateful he is healthy. All that extra time in Mommy's tummy seems to have been worth it. He is adjusting to our home life just fine.

He does seem to be more alert during 10 pm until 2 am. That is something we hope to change soon. Daddy has been staying up with him, rocking him in the chair and spending time in the office working on the computer while Andrew is awake. They have quite the bond already.

I'm Here!

We waited and waited for Andrew to make his appearance. Grandma and Grandpa Johnson spent a week before his birth with us in anticipation of his arrival. Andrew finally decided Saturday, May 10 was his day. Around 4:30 pm on the 9th I started having contractions which continued throughout the night but were not real consistent. Grandma Johnson and I took a walk around our loop (a mile round trip) Saturday May 10 after breakfast. At 9:30 I started having contractions again about 5 minutes apart. At 11 we decided it was time to go to the hospital. After dealing with construction on the freeway and hitting every possible red light, we made it to the hospital at 12:30 and I was admitted. At 1 my water broke and they quickly sent me to labor and delivery. Around 2:30 they gave me an epidural, but it didn't do much to help the intense contractions. I could feel Andrew moving down. Around 4 pm I really felt the urge to push, but there wasn't a doctor available for the delivery. Dr. Eddy, who is my regular doctor agreed to come in and deliver Andrew. After 25 minutes of pushing, Andrew Jeremy was born at 4:44 pm weighing 8 lbs 15 oz. and was 20 inches long. Immediately after he was born, they put him on my chest and we quickly fell in love with our little guy. He is so special with the sweetest disposition. He was the perfect Mother's Day gift!
